All children who come to Hutch School are experiencing loss and fear. We recognize that children and families each follow their own path in coping with stress, grief and loss. Because parents have so many responsibilities while in Seattle (caregiving, treatment, etc.) the school is available to fill part of the parental role in schooling. Because everyone is having a hard time, we treat each other with extra kindness. Because everyone comes from someplace else, we celebrate diversity as a learning opportunity for everyone. Learning should be individualized for each child. Seattle and the Pacific Northwest provide a unique opportunity for our students and their learning. The school is a place of humor, fun and joy.
